What Commonwealth Split-site PhD Scholarships actually covers.
The Commonwealth Split-site PhD Scholarships fund up to 12 months of UK-based research for doctoral candidates from eligible low- and middle-income Commonwealth countries who are already registered for a PhD at a university in their home country. Rather than moving the full doctorate to the UK, the split-site model allows the scholar to spend part of their research at a UK host institution — typically to access equipment, archives, laboratory facilities, or supervision that is not available at home — before returning home to complete and defend the thesis. The award covers UK tuition (where applicable) for the split-site period, a monthly stipend at CSC rates, return economy airfare, and additional grants for arrival and thesis expenses.
