What GETFund Ghana Foreign Postgraduate Scholarship actually covers.
The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) Foreign Postgraduate Scholarship is a fully funded government scholarship enabling Ghanaian citizens to pursue Master's or PhD degrees at accredited institutions abroad. The scholarship provides comprehensive funding covering tuition fees, accommodation, monthly stipends, travel expenses, and health insurance for the duration of the postgraduate programme. GETFund was established by the Ghana Education Trust Fund Act to provide educational infrastructure and support for Ghanaians. The scholarship prioritises fields aligned with Ghana's national development priorities, including science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), agriculture, health, and education. Applicants must first secure admission to a recognised foreign postgraduate institution before applying. The scholarship is open to Ghanaian citizens who demonstrate strong academic merit and a commitment to returning to Ghana to apply their skills in the national interest. Past GETFund scholars have gone on to hold key positions in government, academia, healthcare, and industry in Ghana, making significant contributions to national development.
