What Lund University Global Scholarship Programme (ARUA Track) actually covers.
The Lund University Global Scholarship Programme is one of Sweden's most competitive merit-based tuition fee waivers for outstanding international students pursuing master's degrees at Lund University, one of Scandinavia's oldest and most prestigious research institutions. Within this programme, a dedicated track exists for high-achieving African students who have previously studied at member universities of the African Research University Alliance (ARUA) — a consortium of Africa's leading research universities spanning multiple countries and disciplines. ARUA-track applicants are required to submit a one-minute motivation video in addition to the standard scholarship materials, showcasing their research interests, academic motivation, and aspirations for contributing to African development. Scholarships range from 25% to 100% tuition fee waivers for the entire duration of a master's programme. Lund University is consistently ranked in the global top 100 and offers a rich array of English-taught programmes in engineering, social sciences, law, natural sciences, economics, and more. The programme is exceptionally selective: fewer than 1 in 10 eligible applicants receive an award, making this one of the most prestigious scholarships available in Scandinavia. Awardees must cover their own living expenses, as Swedish Migration Agency regulations require evidence of sufficient personal funds for residence purposes. The scholarship application is submitted as part of the standard Swedish national admissions process at universityadmissions.se, with Lund University listed as the first-choice institution. The annual deadline typically falls in mid-February.
