The Schwarzman Scholars Program is a fully funded, one-year master's degree in Global Affairs hosted at Tsinghua University in Beijing, one of China's most prestigious institutions. Modelled in part on the Rhodes Scholarship, it was created to prepare a new generation of leaders to understand China's growing role in the world and to build bridges between China and the rest of the globe. Each cohort brings together roughly 150 scholars drawn from dozens of countries, and African students are actively encouraged to apply as part of the global class.
Scholars pursue a Master of Global Affairs with concentrations that typically include public policy, economics and business, and international studies. Beyond the classroom, the experience is built around leadership development, mentorship from senior global figures, immersive travel across China, and a lifelong professional network of fellow scholars and alumni. Living together in the purpose-built Schwarzman College, participants learn as much from one another as from the formal curriculum.
The financial package is comprehensive: it covers tuition and academic fees, accommodation and meals, travel to and from Beijing, study tours within China, and a personal stipend, removing cost as a barrier for admitted candidates.
