What University of Geneva Excellence Master Fellowship (Faculty of Science) actually covers.
The University of Geneva Faculty of Science Excellence Master Fellowship Programme offers competitive financial support to outstanding and highly motivated candidates from any university worldwide — including all African universities — who intend to pursue a Master of Science degree in disciplines covered by the Faculty of Science at the University of Geneva. The University of Geneva (UNIGE) is a QS top-100 institution and is home to numerous Nobel Prize-winning researchers; it is situated in one of the world's most international cities, alongside the headquarters of the United Nations, the WHO, CERN, and hundreds of international organisations. Excellence Fellowships are awarded annually to the strongest applicants based on academic performance, motivation letters, and two professor reference letters attesting to the candidate's research aptitude. The next application deadline is typically February 28 each year, for master's programmes commencing in the following September. Applications are made online through the Faculty of Science scholarship portal from January onwards. Eligible programmes cover physics, chemistry, biology, earth sciences, computer science, mathematics, astronomy, and related fields. Fellowship amounts vary but are designed to substantially reduce the financial burden on international students. African students who aspire to careers in science diplomacy, global health, environmental governance, or fundamental research will find Geneva an exceptional base, given the density of international institutions and research opportunities in the city.
