The AIU Scholarship is not a partial discount layered onto an ordinary fee structure; it is a fully funded undergraduate place aimed squarely at academically promising young people from low-income households anywhere in the world, and African students form a significant part of the intake.
The package removes essentially every cost barrier. Tuition is covered in full, on-campus accommodation is free, academic and institutional fees are included, and recipients receive a monthly living stipend. Funding continues for the normal length of the degree, typically three to four years, rather than being renewed competitively each year.
Degrees on offer sit in Business and Management, Social Sciences, Economics, Information Technology, Education and Development Studies. That spread reflects the university's stated purpose of producing graduates who return to their communities equipped to work on development problems.
The eligibility rules are strict and applicants should read them honestly before investing time. International candidates must be between 17 and 20 years old, single, and hold at least a Grade 10 secondary qualification. Critically, household income must not exceed USD 300 per month, and you will be asked to evidence that with documentation. This is a scholarship with a genuine means test at its centre, so a strong academic record alone will not carry an application through.
Selection combines academic merit, financial need and an interview. Applications close on 31 July 2026 and are made through the AIU admissions portal, where applicants create an account and select an undergraduate programme before uploading supporting documents.
