What Commonwealth PhD Scholarships actually covers.
The Commonwealth PhD Scholarships are UK government awards administered by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission for candidates from Commonwealth least developed countries and vulnerable states. The scholarship funds full doctoral study at a UK university, typically over three years, and covers tuition, a monthly stipend at CSC rates, return economy airfare, and additional grants for arrival, thesis production, and research travel where relevant. Applications are made via a nominating body in the candidate's home country or directly through a participating UK university, and shortlisted candidates are assessed by the CSC on academic merit, quality of the research proposal, and expected impact on the applicant's home country. Scholars are required to return home after their PhD and are expected to contribute their expertise to national development.
