What WAAW Foundation Scholarship for African Women in STEM actually covers.
The WAAW (Working to Advance African Women) Foundation Scholarship enables female college students in Africa to pursue undergraduate studies in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields. The scholarship provides a one-time award of US$500 to support talented African women who would otherwise struggle to access quality STEM education. WAAW Foundation is committed to creating a continent of innovative and influential African women in STEM who solve Africa's development challenges. The Foundation operates across all 54 African countries and targets undergraduate women who demonstrate academic merit and financial need. Beyond the financial award, WAAW Foundation provides mentoring, professional development workshops, networking opportunities, and career guidance to help scholars build successful careers in STEM. The scholarship has helped hundreds of African women access STEM education, contributing to the gradual but important shift toward gender equity in technical fields across the continent. Applications are accepted annually, with the 2025/2026 cycle now open.
