What York University Global Leader of Tomorrow Award actually covers.
York University's Global Leader of Tomorrow Award recognises outstanding international students who combine exceptional academic performance with a demonstrated commitment to community service, artistic excellence, sport, or other fields of individual achievement. York is one of Canada's largest universities and is celebrated for its diversity, progressive values, and strong programs in law, business (Schulich School of Business), fine arts, education, and the social sciences. The award is open to international students from across the globe, and Africa is well represented in York's student community. Two awards are offered each year, making this a highly selective but accessible recognition for truly exceptional candidates. Applicants must be entering first-year full-time undergraduate study at York and hold an A average or equivalent from their secondary school. The scholarship requires applicants to complete the International Student Scholarship and Award Application using a York reference number, which students receive shortly after submitting their York admission application. The deadline falls in late January each year. For African students who have maintained excellent grades throughout secondary school while also contributing meaningfully to their communities — through peer tutoring, youth organisations, sports leadership, or creative pursuits — this award is an ideal match. Recipients benefit not only from the financial support but also from membership in a community of like-minded leaders and from York's rich co-curricular environment in Toronto, Canada's most diverse and economically dynamic city.
